Olam International Ltd.
Olam International Ltd. is a large global agri-commodity supply chain manager with special expertise in emerging markets. Ramesh has been with Olam from the early days (1992) and has been closely associated with the business in Africa. Starting with Olam in Nigeria, he headed Olam’s India operations at one time and set up Olam’s trading operations in Europe before returning to Africa.
In his current responsibility Ramesh has oversight of 12 countries in South and East Africa. His responsibility span is from the DRC on the West coast, to South Africa and all the way up to Sudan and Ethiopia. All of Olam’s products and product groups are represented in these geographies and so are Olam’s speciality and focus areas viz farming, sourcing, logistics, primary and mid stream processing, imports, managing distribution networks, marketing and brand management, developing partners in NFP (not for profit) and in government/public sector, financing the supply chain managing Joint Ventures.
Ramesh has built a distinguished career expertise in Agri/Food Commodities in Africa. He is widely consulted by banks, government structures, NPOs and businesses. He teaches at UCT, Cape Town on a part time basis.
He serves on the Management Committee of Olam and Chairs a Standing Committee there as well.
Ramesh lives in Durban, SA with his wife and 2 daughters and enjoys weekend Squash and Cricket.
