Marcos Fava Neves

ProfessorSchool of Business (FEARP) of the University of Sao Paulo

Born in 1968, Marcos Fava Neves a is Professor of Planning and Strategy at the School of Business (FEARP) of the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil and an international expert on global agribusiness issues. He graduated as an Agronomic Engineer from ESALQ/USP in 1991, as Master of Science in 1995 and received his PhD in Management (with a focus on ‘Demand-Driven Planning and Management’) from the FEA/USP School of Economics and Business in 1999. He completed post-graduate studies in European Agribusiness & Marketing in France (1995) and Marketing Channels and Networks in the Netherlands (1998/1999). He also lived in the USA in 1977 and 1978, where he had his first job as a paperboy.

He is specialized in strategic planning processes for companies and food production chains and is a Board Member of PENSA and other public and private organizations in Brazil. In 2004, he created the Markestrat think tank Group, doing international projects, studies and research in strategic planning and management for more than 40 organizations. Since then he advised more than 20 PhD thesis and MSc Dissertations. In 2008 he became CEO of Brazil’s 2nd largest Biofuel company. Following the boom of agribusiness in Brazil and the emerging position of Brazil in world food business, he gave more than 350 presentations in Brazil and 120 in 15 other countries.

His writing is strongly focused on supplying methods for business, publishing70 articles in international journals and has been author and editor of 25 books by 10 different publishers in Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, South Africa, Netherlands and the USA. He is a regular contributor for China Daily Newspaper, Folha de São Paulo in Brazil and wrote 2 case studies for Harvard Business School, in 2009 and 2010.
