14. Retailers working together?

This session is about pre-competitive cooperation between retailers to increase sustainability in the supply chain. During an interesting debate, key speakers will try to find the retailers' soft spots and typical commodities, and look for answers to the following questions:

  • Where does the retailer draw the line between pre-competitive and competitive?
  • What can you expect from retailers working together: lowest common denominator or reaching for the stars?
  • What is the influence of NGOs and the government on this kind op cooperation?
  • Should all retailers work together or is it enough of some early innovators start the work?
  • How do you go about splitting costs and benefits in the process?

Bas Geerts, Standards Director of the ASC (Aquaqculture Stewardship Council)
