11. Social sourcing: how to engage less abled?

Corporate Social Responsibility’ (CSR) has become the mainstream prescription by business and governments for dealing with, for example, social issues like diversity and social return. We are living in a complex and divers world. Al human beings are unique, but also complex. They are all socially and culturally shaped but for a lot of them it is very difficult to find a job in this difficult economic jobs market. How can we help them. How can we help these people to find a place in the social setting of your company. In this workshop Glenn van den Burg of MVO Netherlands and co-owner and co-founder of a company named “Onbegrensd talent” (talent development without any obstacles), will be your chairman. Several leading companies and persons will join this session and will help you to find a innovative way for addressing this social and human issue.

Glenn van der Burg: Program Manager People MVO Nederland

Quote: "It’s all about what people can be, not what they have been." Glenn believes in the power of people. If people do where they are good in and they also believe in this goal, than it is possible to maintain there prosperity and there well being”. In the “planet” dimension of sustainability there is considerable proof of concept available. But the “people” dimension of sustainability seems harder to address in the supply chain. Businesses are innovating in working with employees and small-scale suppliers, but there is little best practice readily available for up-scaling. This session gather the chain players from several commodity sectors to look into innovative ways and up-scaling perspectives for addressing social issues in the supply chain.
