5. The role of leadership in sustainable sourcing

Sustainability is higher on the corporate agenda than ever. KPMG’s 2011 Corporate Responsibility Reporting Survey proves that the vast majority of the 250 largest companies on the planet already report on sustainability performance. The challenge now for CEO’s is to align short-term interests with long term (sustainable) goals. To support this challenge CPO’s have a crucial role to play in their sphere of influence. The strategy development, implementation and transparency of sustainability in the supply chain requires a different way of working with suppliers and a different skillset of CPOs. Apart from basic riskmanagement and compliance the need to develop co-operative models with suppliers will rise on the agenda. The successful introduction and governance of sustainability requires leadership from CPO’s.

This workshop, moderated by KPMG’s Bernd Hendriksen (Practice Leader KPMG Sustainability The Netherlands) and John Tros (Partner, Operations Strategy) will provide you with the latest insights in how corporate sustainability can be implemented in your procurement organization and  supply chain and how it can enable you to create a competitive advantage. Interaction with the audience will be part of the workshop.
