On December 2 & 3 per day 800 people came to the RAI in Amsterdam to network, join workshops and listen to CEOs of front running companies and NGOs like: Berry Marttin (Rabobank), Peter ter Kulve (Unilever), Hans Wijers (AkzoNobel), Feike Sijbesma (DSM), Johan van de Gronden (WNF) and Wout Dekker (Nutreco). And to the Minister of European Affairs and International Cooperation who anounced an extra annual investment of 20 million euros in IDH.

The congress has showed that front running companies do not question the 'why' of creating sustainable value chains anymore, but are now asking 'how'.

This succesfull congress on innovation and sustainability attracted many representatives from the procurement community. And as stated many times on the congress itself: 'CPOs will make the difference in the coming years when it comes to creating sustainable value chains'

In many workshops and during plenary sessions it became clear that innovation and sustainability must go hand in hand to make 100% sustainable value chains profitable. Or, as Marc Engel, CPO of the Year 2010 put it: 'It is the sweet spot that procurement officers must be looking for. The combination of innovation and sustainable growth, that will make companies winning'.
